Veterans Affairs
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) OEF/OIF Outreach Teams focus on improving outreach to members of the National Guard and Reserve by engaging them at least seven times during their deployment cycle with targeted messages and face-to-face encounters with VA staff. Service members returning from OEF/OIF are eligible for a variety of VA benefits, including free health care, education assistance and family support. The program targets the young generation of combat veterans and educates veterans of their benefits through social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook and blogs.
