Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil Award: Real Warriors Campaign

The Real Warriors Campaign won a PRSA silver anvil award in the Internal Communications category for government entries.The Silver Anvil award recognizes outstanding achievement in strategic public relations planning and implementation. Bestowed annually since 1946, the Silver Anvil Award is the oldest and, some say, most prestigious awards competition for outstanding achievement in public relations, based on its rigorous judging criteria and emphasis on measurement and evaluation. This awards program has grown in scope and stature since its inception in 1946, and awards are now given in 66 categories and subcategories. In the 60-plus-year history of the Silver Anvils, many organizations have been recognized, including solo practitioners, agencies of all sizes, large and small businesses, top corporations, nonprofits, associations and government agencies.

International Association of Business Communicators Gold Quill Excellence Award

The Real Warriors Campaign won an IABC Gold Quill Excellence Award for in the category of Government Communication Programs under the Communication Management division. The Excellence Award is the top-scoring of the Gold Quill Awards, and highlights the best ideas and content in the industry. As a winner, the Real Warriors Campaign is recognized as one of the highest performing government communications campaigns.

Public Relations Society of America Bronze Anvil Award: Social Media

The Real Warriors Campaign won a PRSA Bronze Anvil Award in the Social Media category under the Government campaigns division. The Bronze Anvil recognizes the “best of the best” individual tactics that contribute to the overall success of a communications campaign, and as a winner, the Real Warriors Campaign is recognized as one of the highest performing government communications campaigns in the industry, and as one of the most outstanding social media campaigns. About seven percent of entries won the Bronze Anvil Award.

Shorty Awards Finalist: Real Warriors Campaign Social Media

The Real Warriors Campaign was nominated as a Shorty Awards' Finalist for its social media achievements, placing third in the government category and ranking as the most-voted-for U.S. government entity. The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media by recognizing people and organizations that are making a difference. As a finalist, the campaign is recognized as a major influencer among the world’s most well-known brands. Described as the “Oscars of Twitter” by the New York Times, Shorty Award finalists are determined by popular vote — Twitter users who tweet nominations. Communicator Award: Real Warriors Campaign: Integrated Campaign – Promotional/Branding

The Real Warriors Campaign won a Gold Communicator Award under the category of Integrated Campaign, Promotional Branding. The Communicator Awards is the leading international creative awards program honoring creative excellence for communication professionals. Founded by communication professionals over a decade ago, The Communicator Awards is an annual competition honoring the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, interactive and audio. The 2012 Communicator Awards received over 6000 entries from ad agencies, interactive agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms. Entries are judged to evaluate distinction in creative work. In determining Excellence and Distinction Winners, entries are judged on their merits against a standard of excellence based on the 18-year history of The Communicator Awards, considering the category entered. A Gold Award of Excellence is the highest award.

The awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health professionals who work in consumer health education fields. A panel of consumer health experts from across the nation judged the entries based on content, format, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.

This coveted honor sets the industry benchmark for excellence across the public relations industry. Winners were selected from 166 categories under the headings of television productions, video productions and new media. The Award of Excellence was awarded to projects that the judges deemed were written, produced, shot and/or edited in an exceptional manner. Approximately 14 percent of the entries won this award.

Health Improvement Institute's 2009 Aesculapius Certificate of Merit
Named after the ancient Greek god of healing, the Aesculapius Award is intended to encourage and recognize excellence in health communications through the use of websites, or television or radio PSAs.

Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Thoth Award, 2009
PRSA awarded DCoE’s Real Warriors Campaign the Thoth Award for the campaign’s press kits. The campaign’s PSAs also received a Certificate of Excellence from PRSA at the Thoth Award Gala. PRSA’s Thoth Awards recognize the most outstanding, strategic public relations programs and components developed and produced in the Greater Washington area.
